After Implant Placement

Medications:  If you experience soreness, use a pain reliever such as Tylenol or Advil.  You should continue taking your antibiotics after the implant has been placed until they are all gone.  Take medication as indicated on the bottle.

Care: Brush as normal.    Use the mouth rinse we provide, 2-3 times daily for the first 2 weeks.  Do not floss the area for 2 weeks.  Then after 2 weeks have passed, start flossing gently with the floss we provided.  Continue regular at home oral hygiene and see your dental hygienist on  a regular maintenance schedule to keep your gums healthy.

Pain:  Use pain relievers as indicated above.  Discomfort should resolve within 2-5 days.

Infection:  Post-operative infections are rare.  Signs infection may include sudden increase in swelling, elevated body temperature and generally feeling unwell.  If this occurs, please contact our office immediately.

Use the Implant tooth:  Be cautious for the first 2 weeks.  Right after the procedure the local anesthetic will last from 2-6 hours.  Eat a soft diet for the first few days and avoid chewing on the implant for 2 weeks.
